Varied but beautiful tour, some hills to climb but lots of descent too.
Although the Ibis Nord (Day 1 and Day 7) was pleasant enough it is a puzzle why you use this hotel. Having to take a taxi to another hotel on Day 2 is not very satisfactory. Bikes should be at the first hotel on Day 1. Plus, if using the Ibis Nord, the bike path to Eugendorf is virtually outside the hotel so it was a bit bizarre having to take the taxi to another hotel some K’s away to collect our bikes. Perhaps you want customers to start from the Old Town, I can understand that, if so, I am sure there are plenty of bed and breakfast guesthouses you can use.
The Ladies bike was not good with gear slippage from Day 2 - in fact I only had two working gears on a hilly route. The Bike Shop on Day 5 (St Georgen im Attersee) was the first available stop on our route (Day 4 was a Sunday). The bike shop staff were very helpful and had to put a new part on my bike, they told me the previous part had been incorrectly fitted.
I thought the signposting in Gmunden for the Pinsdorf route was a bit confusing.
Hotel Krone in Mondsee were not expecting us for dinner and the restaurant was closed. However, they sent us to a local restaurant but we were only allowed up to 22 Euros each which only just covered a starter, main and dessert.
All the hotels (except Ibis Nord) were excellent and the hosts were all so very welcoming. We loved Das Stern in St Gilgen, our room in Ebensee (our 3rd adult came into our "apartment"), and Krone in Mondsee (perhaps our favourite place). The other two hotels (St Georgen and Obertrum) were also very pleasant. We also appreciated that some hotels had fridges in the room which was very good in the hot weather.
Having said the above, I should also say that the Ibis Nord was a pleasant hotel, very clean, a bit outdated in the rooms but the reception staff were very pleasant, one lady in particular was very helpful, and the breakfast was good, but it is stuck in the middle of the railway and the motorway. We did find a local restaurant to eat in on both our nights there. Please put the bikes in the hotel for Day 1 for future travellers , I’m sure they would appreciate this.
One thing also to note for customers from the UK - shops are closed on Sundays. We had to make sure we had plenty of water for our journey (it was very hot during our stay), we stocked up on water the day before which was necessary. We only knew from past experiences that shops were not open on Sundays.
Thank you for a great experience and we hope to book with you again for our next tour in 2020!
