Salzkammergut 7 day cycle
We toured the Salzkammergut region on R2 and enjoyed the experience. The highlight was Obertrum on our last night before heading into Salzburg. They had their local Autumn festival on Saturday and Celebrate Farmers day on Sunday. A most memorable festival with the locals enjoying their heritage. Everyone dressed in their local custom with plenty to eat drink and sing along with.
The cycling was moderate, we rode on normal 21 speed bikes and found it challenging on day one as expected from the limited notes, but not difficult. Scenery was picturesque, with many photo opportunities.
Accomodation, transfer of luggage was excellent. we travelled as parents with adult child in triple room (only one night was tight and sofa bed inadequate but we did book late, otherwise accom was more than adequate).
The tour map and notes are not worth the paper they were written on, so be prepared and ensure you have google maps and internet capability to ensure you can find your way on the cycle route.
