A wonderful tour with a disappointing level of route information
We loved biking in Austria - wonderful landscapes, places to visit, great cycle paths. Everything worked out well in the arrangements except that the tour was let down by the Inadequate notes in English and the lack of relevant maps. The tour needed an overall map, (we bought a cycle path map of the Salzkammergut so we could work out where we were going), the notes did not make reference to the Salzkammergut book which we had to keep flipping form one map to another. The map that was referred to in the notes (cycling for pleasure Upper Austria) was missing from all our information packs. Without it we became very lost and ended up cycling a lot further trying to leave Gmunden. In fact the notes are completely wrong for this section as there is major road reconstruction that the notes pre date.We were very disappointed in this aspect of our tour. I have done 6 other tours with other companies over the last few years and I have never experienced anything like the disorganization of this one. Once we arrived on the Danube path we were of course fine and were able to relax more. I suggest that you need to review the mapping and directions and make them specific to each tour. The bikes need odometers and distances need to be put into the notes. These are very basic requirements. We were very happy with all the other aspects of our tour.
