Highly recommended boat-bike combination
The tour met all our expectations. The accommodation was comfortable, meals were very good and all crew members were friendly and helpful. The bike routes were scenic and suited novice riders. The optional excursions were reasonably priced and gave an appreciation of (parts of) the cities and culture that might not be seen by independent travellers.
Complaints: 1. We were 4 guests seated next to the kitchen doorway. Frequently there was a foul smell from the kitchen. The next table asked to be moved and were, but there was no room for our table elsewhere in the dinning room. Several times members of our party left the room as the terrible smell made them feel ill. Hopefully the problem will be fixed before the next cruise.
2. The seat on my bike was very soft. I requested a harder seat, such as used on 99% of all enthusiast?s bikes and an option on the Patria, but none were available. The seat caused severe chaffing (bleeding) because my pelvic bone was not supported and every pedal stoke caused my buttocks to rub. A few others who regularly ride made similar observations, but didn?t have the problem to same extent. Solution: Provide a few "hard" seats for those who would prefer them, or advise beforehand that the seats are "soft comfort seats" and experienced riders might prefer to bring their own seat.
