Beautiful spin in the Salzburg hills.
Very happy with R+R patience and flexibility when we were making our booking.
Rented bikes were in very good condition and well equipped with two panniers each. But sizing for the smaller (female) member was still large - perhaps make a smaller frame size available? Route finding with only the supplied maps would have been difficult. We used Kompass 1:50000 maps we had brought and a very useful app: Bikemap (which works very well off-line in the premium version).
Accommodations were mixed (note we were on B&B basis): Weissar Bar, St Wolfgang - good (and we ate in the restaurant, good). Hochleck, Altmunster - only adaquate (large comfortable room, but service inc breakfast disrupted by large celebration group). Town seemed very quiet, we were lucky to find a chinese dinner spot. Spitzerwirt, St Georgen - excellent all round (very friendly welcome and staff, good dinner, very comfortable room, good bike storage, great breakfast) would make a good touring ?base?. Mondsee - good (welcome was over-formal, room okay, breakfast good). Gasthof Neumayr, Obertrum - average (no-one on reception, we let ourselves in, good but faded room, okay dinner, good breakfast). Best Western Amedia, Salzburg - very good (good welcome, comfortable room, very good breakfast; but location is 20 minute walk to town centre)
Scenery on the Tour was well up to expectations! Loved the boat trip (but a timetable would have been helpful). The route used good surfaced tracks throughout, although these were alongside busy roads some of the time. The majority of other cyclists were using e-bikes, which would have helped with one or two of the hills.
