The bike tour on the islands was spectacular and even breath-taking. Each Island offered a new vista and character. Very Beautiful! The price of the tour was reasonable however the boat accommodation was mediocre. The boat was old and in need of refurbishing but thankfully clean and well maintained by the staff. The cook had two meals that were great (1st day hearty beef soup and the mushroom soup that was so tasty. The Captain?s freshly caught fish was also tasty. The rest of the meals on board were filling but quite similar in flavour and taste. The coffee was ghastly and each breakfast was identical (sliced meat - same every day- bread, butter, jam and yogurt). No eggs at all
Our biggest and truly only complaint was that this tour was advertised as an English and German tour. My friend and I were the only two English speaking guests on the Aneta. All of the other guests were either totally or virtually unilingual German, Swiss or Austrian (not even French which I can also speak!). Clearly you can imagine how this must feel when we are expecting to meet and enjoy the company of new people only to discover that we could hardly communicate with them. I do not blame the guests since they are also on vacation and do not wish to expend so much effort to attempt to speak a language in which they are unfamiliar or who are with a family group and came prepared to spend time with that group. Those guests were quite lovely and sensitive to our circumstances and did try to help to some extent. I do blame the organizers for not informing us in advance that only 2 of the 27 guests spoke English. This made our trip socially challenging. Thankfully the scenery managed to compensate to some extent and our guide Branco was terrific and very sensitive to our situation. In conclusion, those small complaints about the accommodation and food made above would have been quite negligible had we had more people with whom to socialize/communicate to fully enjoy the tour. We have obtained names of two other cycle groups with whom I will explore booking our next cycle trip.
