Our Experience
Overall we were very satisfied with the tour. Here are the areas of concern: 1. Although the tour description on your website mentioned 2 boat trips, the second trip, from Melk to Dornsein was not mentioned in any of the information we received and in fact we would have missed it entirely if it wasn’t for Stephan the bike distributor who told us about it. 2. 2 of the overnight hotels were in very poor locations, namely at the top of steep hills. So at the end of a day’s riding, when you are most tired, you are given a non-rideable hill to climb to reach the lodging. Then you are forced to eat at the hotel restaurant due to the distance from town. This occurred in Ardagger and Krems. 3. We arrived at the Landhaus in Ardagger to find that it was closed along with its restaurant. Luckily we were able to contact the manager who called a taxi for us to get us to a restaurant. 4. We are recreational riders. With the need to cover up to 40 miles in a day to get to the next hotel it left little time for sightseeing or exploring. The need to either extend the number of days with fewer miles to cover each day, or the need to rise very early should be stressed more, especially for people who do not ride so quickly. Other than these things we enjoyed the trip very much. In addition your staff was always very helpful via email, and we can’t say enough positive things about Stefan (?), the guy at the bike depot. He was great.
