Salzburg - Grado e-bike tour July 2022
Overall this was an excellent cycle tour. All of the accomodation was very good with all hotel staff very helpful. The e-bikes were very good - it would have been very difficult for us without e-bikes. We felt it necessary to manage battery usage carefully in the first two days as they had quite demanding climbs at the end of the day, however, this was not a problem. We had the benefit of downloading the route on GPS and without this I feel that following the route would have been difficult at times. In general the route was well sign posted. However, there was a section between Bad Gastein and Seeboden where the old railway line section was closed due to land slip and here the diversion signage was very poor. Just after crossing into Italy the route was closed and with a diversion provided - this diversion was very unsatisfactory as it involved descending down a very steep gravel track that was really difficult and potentially quite dangerous. This diversion needs to be re-thought by those responsible for the Alp-Adria cycle route. We would have preferred the evening meal inlcuded as part of our holiday package. No water bottles were provided and thankfully we had brought our own but there was no bottle holder. It was very hot at times and drinking water was essential.
Overall a superb trip and very much enjoyed by us and our two friends.
