Day 1: Malmö
Welcome to Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city. Visit the old town with its half-timbered houses, the equestrian statue, and Malmöhus. The former castle now houses the city museum and is surrounded by beautiful parkland.
Day 2: Malmö – Helsingborg, approx. 75 km
You start your Kattegat adventure on an almost flat route with wonderful views of the sea. The route runs mostly on bike paths and small side roads. Pure cycling pleasure!
Day 3: Helsingborg – Ängelholm, approx. 60 km
Your day starts along the beach promenade in Helsingborg and soon you pass Sofiero Castle with its beautiful park. This is a blooming oasis and was voted the most beautiful park in Europe in 2010. Continue through picturesque fishing villages and small harbours. Marvel at the world-famous ceramics in Höganäs. The stage continues along the Kulla peninsula to Ängelholm.
Day 4: Ängelholm – Båstad, approx. 55 km
From Ängelholm, follow the coast to Vejbystrand, then leave the coast behind and cycle across the peninsula and through the Sinarpsdalen valley to the beautiful summer town of Båstad. A historic seaside resort where, as early as 1830, city dwellers from Lund and Malmö would retreat for a summer getaway.
Day 5: Båstad – Halmstad, approx. 40 km
Along one of Sweden’s longest sandy beaches, you’ll pass through the towns of Skummeslövsstrand and Mellbystrand and cycle through the Tönnrersa and Gullbranna nature reserves before arriving in Halmstad. Halmstad Castle is one of the city’s most important historical landmarks and offers a glimpse into the region’s cultural heritage. Halmstad is also known for its vibrant arts and culture scene—featuring numerous galleries, theaters, and a year-round calendar of festivals and events.
Day 6: Halmstad – Falkenberg, approx. 60 km
Today the most famous beach in Sweden awaits you: Tylösand. But not only this, but also the hotel of the same name is worth a visit. Your route takes you further north along the coast. The sea, open landscapes, exciting nature reserves and lush farmland lie along the way. You will pass Ugglarp, a small coastal community with its famous vegetable gardens and beautiful seaside resort. Today’s route takes you via Grimsholmen to Falkenberg, one of the oldest towns in the province of Halland.
Day 7: Falkenberg – Varberg, approx. 40 km
Look forward to picturesque fishing villages and many handicrafts today. In Träslövsläge you have the opportunity to feast on freshly cooked lobster. As you approach Varberg, the Varberg Fortress rises before you.
Day 8: Varberg – Kungsbacka, approx. 60-70 km
North of Varberg the landscape changes. The sandy beaches become rarer and more and more rocks appear. The first islands become visible. Along fields and horse farms you finally reach Kungsbacka, a cosy, small, former trading town with an impressive old town.
Day 9: Kungsbacka – Gothenburg, approx. 40-65 km
Have you missed the sea? How good that it accompanies you again today. You pass Vallda and approach Särö, the entertainment centre of the bourgeois class in Gothenburg of the last century. After Särö you continue cycling along the former railway line, always at a distance from the sea. Rocks, lush forests, bays and harbours also line your path before you reach Gothenburg.
Day 10: Gothenburg
After breakfast individual departure or extension.
