You ride mostly on bike paths, farm roads and on dirt roads and have hardly any inclines to overcome. The quality of the Moselle Cycle Path is excellent. There are practically no unpaved or poorly passable stretches of road. The route runs almost exclusively on asphalt paths.

Your journey begins in the heart of Berlin, not far from the government district. After checking in and settling into your cabin starting at 4:00 p.m., you’ll meet the captain, the crew, and the tour guide at a welcome meeting. You’ll then enjoy your first dinner together on board and get into the right mood for the days ahead. Afterward, take a short walk around the ship’s mooring – a wonderful opportunity to get your first impressions of Berlin and immerse yourself in the city’s history and culture.

During breakfast, your ship will slowly leave the center of Berlin and follow the Spree River out of the capital. Passing urban riverfront landscapes, you’ll gradually leave the city behind and enter the quieter natural areas surrounding Berlin. Once the ship has docked and your bicycles have been adjusted, your first bike tour will begin, taking you on a leisurely ride along waterways and through expansive parklands all the way to Oranienburg. The afternoon is dedicated to German history: At the Sachsenhausen Memorial, you’ll visit a place of remembrance and reflection. The former concentration camp, which later served as a Soviet internment camp, remains a powerful reminder of one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century.

As you enjoy your breakfast on board, the Clair de Soleil sets course southward. Soon, today’s bike tour begins, allowing you to experience the beauty of Brandenburg and the region’s characteristic interplay of lakes, canals, and forests. Along the way, you’ll make a brief stop at the House of the Wannsee conference – a historic site that today serves as a memorial and educational center commemorating the Nazi era. In the afternoon, you’ll finally reach Potsdam with its magnificent parks, palaces, and historic waterways.

Today is all about Potsdam, a city full of magnificent parks, sprawling gardens, and impressive palaces. For centuries, Potsdam was the favored summer residence of Prussian kings and German rulers, and even today you can feel the splendor of bygone eras at every turn. On a guided bike tour, you’ll discover the city’s most beautiful sights. A special highlight is a visit to Sanssouci Palace, the famous summer palace of Frederick the Great, which captivates visitors with its elegant simplicity and expansive terraced gardens. The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure, and dinner is on your own. Take the opportunity to explore Potsdam’s restaurant scenes, perhaps by visiting one of the traditional potato restaurants for which the region is known?

In the morning, your bike tour begins through the wooded landscapes around Potsdam. Along the way, you’ll make a brief stop at Albert Einstein’s summer home. The route then continues along the lake scenery before you take a small ferry across to the other side of the water. Around lunchtime, you’ll reach the charming island town of Werder. This historic town, once a fishing village and later known for its fruit and wine production, invites you to take a relaxing break thanks to its unique waterfront location. In Ketzin on the Havel, your ship will be waiting for you again in the afternoon to take you on a leisurely journey to Brandenburg an der Havel. In the evening, you’ll explore Brandenburg an der Havel on a guided walking tour and learn more about its eventful history.

Brandenburg’s water-rich landscape, with its numerous lakes, canals, and tranquil riverside paths, defines today’s leg of the journey and once again impressively showcases the unique character of this region. After a picnic along the way, you’ll return on board in Ketzin on the Havel. As your ship sets course for Berlin, you can relax and enjoy the passing scenery from the water once more. In the afternoon, you’ll reach Berlin-Spandau, often called “Little Venice” because of its many waterways and bridges. The historic district, with its winding cobblestone alleys and old half-timbered houses, invites you to take a leisurely stroll and provides an atmospheric end to the day.

The last full day of the trip is entirely dedicated to the German capital. If you’d like, you can explore Berlin at your own pace. Thanks to the excellent S-Bahn connections, many attractions are easily accessible. Alternatively, your tour guide will accompany you on a final group bike tour to some of Berlin’s most famous sites. The route takes you to Checkpoint Charlie, along the former Berlin Wall, and through the Brandenburg Gate, among other stops. The government district, including the Federal Chancellery, is also on the way. Here, history blends with modern city life. In the evening, you’ll wrap up your week-long vacation in Berlin and Brandenburg with a captain’s dinner aboard the Clair de Soleil in a relaxed atmosphere.
