Kvarner Bay by Bike + Boat

from/to Omisalj with Linda

Itinerary

Route

Cycling tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper climbs up to approx. 400 meters in altitude. All tours, including the altitude differences, can be easily mastered with electronic assistance. Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally on gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists who are used to longer daily stages.

The roads are mostly paved and have little traffic outside of holiday periods. On the island of Krk, there is a short section on unpaved gravel and forest paths. On the island of Lošinj, the tour leads along a narrow promenade, where particularly cautious and adapted riding is required.

There are no designated bike paths in Kvarner Bay. The bike tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side streets.

Individual arrival in Omišalj on the island of Krk. Boarding takes place between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., we set off on our first cruise aboard the boat to Rabac on the Istrian peninsula. The coastal town is surrounded by crystal clear blue water, and numerous cafés along the waterfront promenade create an inviting atmosphere. Explore the area on foot and get to know the boat and your fellow passengers. We will spend the night in Rabac.

Today’s bike tour begins with a steady climb from sea level to the town of Labin. Once at the top, we enjoy our first view of Kvarner Bay and its islands. We cycle through the picturesque landscapes of Istria and small rural villages before returning to Labin for lunch. After enjoying our first locally prepared meal, we cycle down to the boat in Rabac and continue our journey to the island of Cres, to the capital of the same name. A picturesque harbor town characterized by its Italian architecture. We spend the night here.

After breakfast, today’s bike tour starts, taking you from Cres town to Martinšćica. Here, your ship will be waiting for you for lunch and the crossing to the island of Lošinj. Weather permitting, you can take a refreshing swim before your ship reaches the old seafaring and spa town of Mali Lošinj with its large harbor basin, numerous cafés, and colorfully painted house facades. Here, many beautiful cafés and bars invite you to enjoy a sundowner on the lively waterfront promenade.

The extensive promenade that winds its way along many picturesque bays takes you to the southernmost part of the island, where you can visit the picturesque town of Veli Lošinj and return to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, you will sail to the island of Ilovik, where you can take a lovely walk or enjoy a swim in the sea.

After the crossing, we will enjoy a round trip through the diverse landscapes of the island of Rab. Starting from the old town, the tour takes us through varied landscapes, from coastal promenades to shady forests and secluded bays. After returning to the boat, we can enjoy some free time in this charming town before taking part in a guided city tour. We will spend the night in the town of Rab.

In the morning, we drive to Krk, the capital of the island of Krk, with its beautiful old town. A round trip from the town of Krk takes us through the diverse landscapes of the island, inland from the coast, through vineyards and small villages. Back in Krk, we enjoy the evening exploring the narrow streets with our guide and relaxing in one of the many beautiful terrace bars near the sea. We spend the night in Krk.

We cycle over the ridge of the island which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 50-meter-high cliff and surrounded by vineyards is the home of the famous white wine Zlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omiðalj. On our way we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements we reserve the right to make changes of routing and program.
