Tulip Blossom by Bike + Boat / Individual

from/to Amsterdam

Route

You will ride on flat and well-maintained bike paths throughout your trip.

Individual arrival in Amsterdam. Boarding at 1:30 p.m. and welcome by the crew. After the safety briefing, the ship sets course for Hoorn.

Today, West Friesland welcomes you with its spectacular tulip fields. West Friesland is considered the second largest tulip region in the Netherlands. On your first bike tour, you will have plenty of time for photo stops in the colorful flower fields before reaching your destination for the day, Enkhuizen.

During breakfast on board, the ship will take you leisurely to Volendam, where today’s bike tour begins. North of Amsterdam, the so-called Waterland region is criss-crossed by numerous canals with small bridges that characterize the view along the route. The destination is the charming open-air museum Zaanse Schans with its typical wooden houses and windmills that are still in operation. Finally, the ship takes you to Alkmaar.

Today you will cycle through the colorful tulip fields north of Alkmaar to the charming seaside resort of Egmond aan Zee. The fine sandy beach is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands. Nearby, the artists’ village of Bergen invites you to stroll around. Both places are located on the edge of the North Holland Dune Reserve, an impressive nature reserve of forests and dunes. In the evening, you will return to the ship in Alkmaar.

In the morning, you will cycle via Egmond-Binnen to Limmen, where you will visit the Hortus Bulborum, a unique museum garden with over 3,500 rare and historic flower bulbs. You will then continue through bright tulip fields back to Zaandam, where you will board the ship again. In the afternoon, the ship will take you leisurely to Haarlem. The centrally located pier allows for a relaxing stroll to the beautiful old town with the Grote Markt and the imposing St. Bavo Church.

Today’s route takes you through Holland’s oldest tulip fields to the Keukenhof Tulip Park. This park full of bulb flowers is a unique, overwhelming sea of colors made up of seven million blooming tulips and other flowers. They stand in a magnificent 80-hectare park with traditional and modern garden architecture. In the afternoon, you cycle back to the ship in Haarlem.

Your last bike ride takes you through green countryside back to Amsterdam. In the afternoon, there is time to explore the city: visit the famous flower market, stroll through the Vondelpark, or enjoy the atmosphere in one of the many street cafés. If you wish, you can end the day with a canal cruise – discounted tickets are available on board.

Disembarkation after breakfast until 9.30 am. Individual departure or extension in Amsterdam.

Due to varying wind and weather conditions, as well as organizational necessities, we reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary.

Please keep in mind that the ship is both your hotel and a machine that needs to be maintained and operated - both during the day and at night. Operational noise is therefore unavoidable.
