This special cycling tour through Småland takes you into the world of Astrid Lindgren. You cycle through gentle forests, past sparkling lakes and red wooden houses, following the Astrid Lindgren Trail in places. Immerse yourself in the original settings of her stories, such as Katthult, Lönneberga, and Bullerbü. In Vimmerby, Astrid Lindgren’s birthplace, literature comes to life, while small towns like Mariannelund exude typical Swedish charm. Quiet nature trails, short stages, and unique accommodations – from Ullinge to the secluded Trakts Forest Hotel – make this bike tour a leisurely discovery tour through the heart of Småland, ideal for connoisseurs, literature fans, and families.
No prior experience necessary, but a certain level of physical fitness is recommended.
Individual arrival in dreamy Smaland. The starting point for your trip is the Ullinge Hotel, near Eksjö. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing evening, try out the sauna, and get in the mood for the upcoming days of cycling.
From Ullinge, you will travel to Eksjö in the morning, a charming wooden town with houses dating back to the 17th century. Continuing along the Astrid Lindgren Trail, which winds its way through picturesque Smaland, you will arrive at Mariannelund, your destination for the day.
In Mariannelund, you can visit Filmbyn Småland, where Astrid Lindgren’s films are brought to life. If you want to delve even deeper, you can book a guided bike tour—an adventure trip where you visit locations from the film adaptations of Astrid Lindgren’s stories. Today ends in Vimmerby, where you will spend the next two nights.
Today, you can choose between a culturally rich day of rest dedicated to Astrid Lindgren (visit her birthplace, Astrid Lindgren Näs, or Astrid Lindgren World) or go on a bike tour to famous places from her fairy tale world. Katthult, Bullerbü, and Lönneberga are familiar to everyone...
Today’s stage takes you through the hilly Smaland region to the idyllically located Trakt Forest Hotel. Along the way, there are a few opportunities to stop for a swim in some of Smaland’s most beautiful lakes. This unique hotel in the heart of the Smaland forest combines tradition with modern architecture and a love of nature. The perfect way to end your bike tour.
This day is yours to spend as you wish. After a hearty breakfast, you can go on a short bike ride, take a leisurely walk in the woods surrounding the hotel, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the farm. There is also the option to book other activities, or you can just sit back and enjoy the tranquility of the place.
The last day of the bike tour offers another dose of Småland nature: forests, open meadows, and lakes. The tour takes you via Vetlanda and small roads to Björköby, where you can take a break at the small zoo and café. Back in Ullinge, a well-deserved sauna awaits you, and perhaps a last swim in the lake before dinner. A perfect end to a week full of nature, culture, and fabulous experiences.

You are welcome to bring your own bike. It is specially tailored to your needs, and we understand that you want to have it with you on your bike tour. Don’t forget to bring a tool bag with the necessary keys and a spare inner tube, as well as a lock. Check the bike for proper functioning before departure.
