National Parks Dalmatia by Bike + Boat

from/to Trogir with San Snova

Tourmap

Route

Tour profile: Level 1-2

The tour is one of the easier ones of our island program. The cycling stages require the participant to have a certain basic level of fitness, which should be acquired as a regular cyclist. The islands are between 200 and 400 meters high. The daily stages of 20 - 40 km lead through hilly terrain and are cycled without time pressure. Only occasionally there are steeper climbs, but pushing is allowed. The roads are mostly asphalted and not very busy outside the vacation season. Decide for yourself each day whether you want to cycle individually according to information and maps or join one of the two tour guides or individual participants. Instead of a bike tour, you can also spend a half or full day on the ship.

Day 1: Trogir – Rogoznica

Individual arrival either by car to Trogir or by plane to Split. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2.30 and 3:00 p.m. at Trogir our first cruise starts at 3 p.m. leading us to Rogoznica - a village on a small island which is connected to the mainland by a dam. Here we also spend our first night.

Day 2: Rogoznica – Primošten – Šibenik – Skradin, approx. 20 km

In the morning we cycle from Rogoznica to Primošten. From there the boat takes us to the city of Šibenik to the spot where the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. After visiting the famous cathedral and the lovely old town we set off again. On the cruise we pass the lower course of the river Krka following the river bend until we reach Skradin. In the port of the village we spend our night.

Day 3: National Park Krka – Vodice, approx. 36 km

From Skradin in the morning you will get to know the most famous part of the Krka National Park with its unique natural waterfalls by excursion boat and on foot. After your stay in the national park you will return to Skradin for lunch and then you will take a bike ride from Skradin to Vodice, a famous seaside resort on the Dalmatian mainland. The ship will be waiting for you here for the night.

Day 4: Vodice – Island of Murter – Nature Park Telašćica, approx. 27 km

In the morning we cycle from Vodice to Murter Island, which is connected to the mainland by a lift bridge in the town of Tisno. We cycle over the bridge and along the waterfront, passing by two old coastal villages, until we reach a small jetty. From here, we enjoy a spectacular sail through the Kornati National Park, an archipelago in crystal clear water, known for its rich aquatic life, until we reach the Nature Park Telašćica. In the evening, we take a walk through the park and along the island’s stunning cliffs. A salt lake and a family of donkey also characterise the nature park and make for a wonderful location to spend a quiet night.

Day 5: Island of Dugi Otok – Zadar, approx. 25 km

After breakfast we start our bike tour from the Telašćica Nature Park, along a virtually traffic-free, panoramic road across the island. During the ride we’re treated to countless unforgettable views of neighbouring islands, breaking through the deep blue sea. We meet the ship in Savar and board for a crossing to the city of Zadar, which for centuries was the political, cultural, and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Once we arrive, there is the opportunity to take part in a walking tour during which you will find out all about this fascinating city while strolling through the winding alleys and the lively old town, characterised by 3,000 years of history. The night is spent in Zadar.

Day 6: Islands of Ugljan and Pašman – Primošten, approx. 33 km

During breakfast, the boat crosses to the island of Ugljan at the channel of Zadar. Today there is plenty of time to cycle through and explore both the islands Ugljan and Pašman, connected by a bridge. As we cycle along the east coast, we can enjoy beautiful views of the sea and the mainland. After our bike tour, we sail back to the city of Primosten on the mainland. Here we can enjoy some time swimming and exploring the quaint sea-side village. The night is spent in Primosten.

Day 7: Island of Šolta – Trogir, approx. 15 km

In the morning our motor yacht takes us to the island of Solta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of lavender and rosemary will follow us throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid day our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here we have enough time to visit the world cultural heritage old town. After dinner it is time to say good bye to crew and travel guides.

Day 8: Trogir (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

    Ship

    Welcome aboard the SAN SNOVA!

    Facilities

The MS San Snova is a wooden motor-sailer that was launched in spring 2009 and made exclusively for Islandhopping cruises. The ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built in three years by the Scherka family in their own carpentry workshop as family project. The ship, 100 ft./31 m long and 26 ft./8 m wide, meets the highest expectations in regard to comfort, elegance and style, combining romantic seafaring with modernity and functionalism. Young captain Tonci prides himself in the meticulous appearance of the ship and the cordiality on board.

The roomy sun deck offers comfortable mats for relaxing and lounge chairs are found on the afterdeck. So let yourself be pampered and enjoy the “Dream of Dreams” (San Snova), as the Scherka family named their ship!

    Cabins

The San Snova has five double cabins (with double beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 5,2 ft./160 cm) and five triple cabins above deck (with double beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 5,2 ft./160 cm and single bunk beds 6,5 ft./200 cm x 2,6 ft./80 cm) as well as four spacious triple cabins below deck. Two of these triple cabins can also be used as quadruple cabins by adding a camp bed. The fittings of the cabins as well as the saloon and the outside area are of superior quality with many carefully created details.

    Catering

The cook that travels along is a member of the crew and prepares breakfast and one or two warm dishes a day. Catering includes 2 x full board and 5 x half board and starts with dinner on embarkation day and ends with breakfast on disembarkation day.

Island hopping along the Dalmatian Coast

We were disappointed in the food; way too much meat and hardly any vegetables. The desserts were awful. Water should be included in the price of the trip. It’s tacky to add it on. We also would have appreciated tip recommendations and easy access to envelopes. ...
