Tourmap

Route

Tour profile: Level 2

The cycle route is mainly flat along the banks of the Salzach, Saalach and Inn rivers. Some slightly hilly terrain and a few longer climbs are nevertheless unavoidable.

Day 1: Krimml/Wald

Individual arrival.

Day 2: Krimml/Wald – Kaprun/Zell am See, approx. 50-65 km

Via Rosental you ride to Neukirchen onward towards to Habachtal, famous for its find spots of emeralds, to Bramberg (museum of local history). The local museum of Mittersill, the principal town of Oberpinzgau, is also well worth paying a visit. Via Uttendorf (national park-information-centre) and Niedernsill you arrive at Piesendorf, where the exhibition of the old Chinese town is well worth seeing. The European Sport Region Kaprun/Zell am See begins here at the foot of the lake with the glacial ski region surrounding the Kitzsteinhorn.

Day 3: Zell am See/Kaprun – Lofer, approx. 50 km

You leave the upper Salzach Valley and follow the Saalach. The cycle path leads past Saalfelden and the famous pilgrimage town of Maria Alm. The Seisenbergklamm and the cave Lamprechtshöhle are worthwhile natural landmarks on the way to Lofer.

Day 4: Lofer – Salzburg, approx. 50 km

Following the river bank, you reach the “small German corner” (“kleine deutsche Eck”) with the spa town of Bad Reichenhall and the wide plain of the Salzburg basin. Through the Saalach meadows you reach Salzburg.

Day 5: Salzburg – Burghausen, approx. 60 km

You first cycle to Oberndorf („Silent Night“ Chapel) on the Salzach-Uferweg (riverside path). You carry on to Ettenau and via St. Radegund to Burghausen (longest castle in the world)

Day 6: Burghausen – Bad Füssing/surroundings, approx. 50 km

From Burghausen you will reach the mouth of the Inn and Salzach rivers. You arrive in the border city Braunau and then arrive in the European reserve Unterer Inn, a bird and nature reserve. The journey continues to the known spa city Bad Füssing. Overnight stay partly also in Obernberg or surroundings.

Day 7: Bad Füssing/surroundings – Schärding/Passau, approx. 25-40 km

Passing the Reichersberg Abbey you will reach Schärding. You can choose between spending your last night in Schärding or riding on further to the three-river-city Passau.

    Bicycle

    Bicycles inclusive panniers

    Following bikes are available:

    • Unisex bike with Nuvinci transmission
    • E-Bikes

The NuVinci CVT special gear system (correspond to a 27 speed bike) uses a set of rotating balls and also tilting balls in a transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies the speed ratio. As a result, the NuVinci CVT system offers seamless and continuous transition to any ratio within its range.

The offered bikes are touring bikes with an aluminium frame and kitted with responsive brakes and gears. Plus: comfort gel saddles, flat-palmed grips, Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tyres. All bikes are equipped with a pannier (saddle bag) and a handlebar bag/per room.

    E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedelecs

With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! If you had few opportunities to cycle over the last weeks or if you are not sure concerning your fitness, but also with physical disabilities, every bike ride is a treat! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.
