The Lake Constance Cycle Path runs mainly on cycle paths or on quiet side-streets, which are mostly asphalted. The major part of the route leads you in close proximity along the lake shore and is signed throughout.

Day 1: Constance

Day 2: Cycling tour to the Rhine Falls, approx. 50 km
Cycling tour to Stein am Rhein. Stroll through the alleys of the most well-preserved medieval small town in Switzerland, before you cycle further to Schaffhausen. Here, you can admire the largest waterfall in Europe. Afterwards you board a boat, which will bring you to Constance. (Duration of the ride: approx. 3,5 hours)

Day 3: Cycling tour to Arbon, approx 60 km
Your stage leads you along the lakeshore via Romanshorn to Arbon. Enjoy a stroll in the historic city, before you cycle back to Constance on the same route.

Day 4: Unter- and Üblingersee, approx. 60 km
Cycling tour to the island Reichenau, the largest island at Lake Constance. The monastery island is part of UNESCO world heritage. The cycle tour leads you via Radolfzell to Ludwigshafen and further along the shore to Überlingen, Uhldingen and Meersburg. Ferry ride to Constance.

Day 5: Lindau & Bregenz, approx. 45 - 55 km
Ferry ride to Meersburg (not incl.). Travelling via the zeppelin town Friedrichshafen, you will arrive in the Bavarian Lake Constance metropolis Lindau. Visit the historic town and the lighthouses with the Löwenmole, before you make your way to Bregenz. After taking a ride up the Pfänder (mountain) you will be surprised with a stunning view of the lake. Return trip by boat. (Duration of ride: approx. 4,5 hours)

Day 6: Excursion to Salem, approx. 40 km
Ferry ride to Meersburg (not incl.), cycling tour via Unteruhldingen to Salem. Visit the Salem monastery, which is one of the loveliest cultural monuments at Lake Constance or take a stroll through the midst of the home territory of over 200 Barbary apes. Back in Meersburg, you cycle further to Friedrichshafen and travel back by boat. (Duration of the ride: approx. 1 hour)

Day 2: Cycling tour to Rhine Falls, approx. 50 km

Cycling tour to the Reichenau Island, the largest island in the Lake Constance. You will travel via Radolfzell along the Lake Constance shore to Meersburg. The journey then continues by ferry to Constance.

Day 4: Excursion to Salem, appprox. 40 km
Ferry ride to Meersburg (not incl.), cycling tour to the Salem monastery, which is one of the loveliest cultural monuments at Lake Constance. Back in Meersburg, you cycle further to Friedrichshafen and will then travel back by ship. (duration: approx. 1 hour)

Day 5: Cycling tour to Lindau, approx. 45 km
Today, you will need to pack your suitcase, as Lindau will be your place of accommodation for the next two days. Ferry ride to Meersburg and cycling tour to Friedrichshafen with the Zeppelin-Museum. The cycle path leads to Lindau, one of the loveliest cities at Lake Constance.

Day 6: Bregenz & Lindau, approx 20 km
Visit the famous Kunsthaus in Bregenz and travel with the Pfänderbahn onto the Bregenz local mountain (1064 m). On the restaurant’s terrace, you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view. After an eventful day, you will then cycle back to your place of overnight stay Lindau.

Day 7: Swiss Shore, approx. 40 km
You will need to pack your suitcase once again, as you will be returning to Constance. Ship ride (duration: approx. 1 hour) from Lindau into the old port city Rorschach. A dream-like view of Lake Constance and the impressive Alpine foothills will accompany you on your journey through the Thurgau Canton.

    Constance: Hotel Halm
    Centrally located in the Old Town, this classic-style hotel is just opposite Konstanz Central Station and a 3-minute walk to Lake Constance. It offers stylish rooms with free WiFi. In a grand, historical building, all rooms at the Hotel Halm Konstanz are nonsmoking and feature a cable TV and mini-bar. Some have air conditioning and a relaxing seating area.

    A rich buffet breakfast and delicious cuisine is served by candlelight in the elegant Maurisches Saal restaurant, featuring chandeliers and high-ceilings. The Bibliothek bar serves exotic cocktails and features its own library. Guests at the Hotel Halm are welcome to relax in the sauna.

    Lindau: Hotel Alte Schule
    The Hotel Alte Schule is located in Lindau, approx. 200 meters from the Lindau City Museum and 1.5 km from the port. Look forward to city views. The air-conditioned rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a desk and a private bathroom with a shower, hairdryer and toiletries. A varied breakfast is served every morning.

    The Lindau lighthouse is about 1.5 km from the property. It’s not far to the town hall. Friedrichshafen Airport is 28 km away.

    Lindau: Hotel Schönau
    The stylish Hotel Schönau is located directly on the vineyard and the orchards, and is only approx. 10 minutes by car from the center of Lindau.

    Arrival - Parking - Departure

    Arrival by plane

    Airport: Friedrichshafen (FDH), Zürich (ZRH)

    Zurich is the closest large airport and direct flights from Europe and Overseas are available. The Zurich airport has its own railway stop. Trains run frequently between Konstanz and Zurich (airport and city). It’s about 1 hour between the airport and Konstanz (approx. € 26,- p.P). Alternatively, you can fly into Friedrichshafen and take a 40 mins ferry across the lake.


    Arrival by car

    Parking at our company area: We are pleased to inform you, that you can park your car for the duration of the bicycle tour on our parking area at a flat fee of € 70,- per car. The number of parking spaces is limited.

    Parking at the arrival hotels: Some parking spaces are available directly at the hotels or in the vicinity (public parking spaces). All costs incurred are to be paid on site. For further information you can get in touch with the respective arrival hotel after you have received your hotel list.


    Arrival by train

    Train station: Constance

    Depending on the hotel you are staying at in Constance, you can either get off at the Konstanz-Petershausen station or ride one station further to the main train station. You can take a taxi or the bus to the booked hotel. The connection information (route network map for downloading) of the bus routes can be found here.

    Triple rooms: Please note that triples can only be booked for max. 2 adults. Triples often are double rooms with an extra bed (which might be folding or sofa beds). 4-bed rooms are NOT possible.

    We don’t offer half-board on this tour.

    Transport of bicycles on the scheduled boats as well as the ferry rides from Constance to Meersburg, is not included in the basic travel price of the tour.

    City or visitor’s tax, if payable, is not included in the travel price.

    Good tour, but be prepared to do your own trip planning when you get here...

    We wanted to cycle Lake Constance, but preferred the centre-based offer (vs around the lake hotel to hotel). Turns out we quite liked the 2-hotel format, less disruption. Hotels were excellent as were the bikes. The bike paths all around Lake Constance ...
