Route

Tour profile/ Level 2:

The path is mostly flat and sometimes a little bit hilly. There are a few uphill stretches, some condition is necessary. You cycle in a comfortable speed and have enough time to visit sights and refresh yourself during taking a few breaks.

Day 1: Hamburg

Individual arrival. Explore the harbour metropolis Hamburg on your own - there are a lot of different cultural possibilities to create your perfect first evening.

Day 2: Hamburg – Lauenburg, approx. 55 km

From Hamburg you start your first leg of your tour by cycling along the harbour, the famous fish market, the "Reeperbahn" and the cathedral "Michel" to the town Geesthacht and later on to the ship city Lauenburg.

Day 3: Lauenburg – Hitzacker, approx. 55 km

You cycle from Lauenburg through dreamy villages to the health resort Hitzacker. This attractive Old Town with its many half-timbered towns invites you to stroll around a bit and maybe take a break in one of the cafes or restaurants.

Day 4: Hitzacker – Wittenberge, approx. 78 km

Through the Wendland this leg of the tour brings you to Wittenberge along the dyke. On your way you pass the former inner german border area.

Day 5: Wittenberge – Havelberg, approx. 38 km

Today you cycle along the dyke to Havelberg. In between, the cycle path leads you through Rühstädt, Germany’s village with the most storks.

Day 6: Havelberg – Rathenow, approx. 53 km

From today you accompany the Havel through vast green fields and small magnificent villages of the Schollener country. You cycle through Stölln, which is well-known from Otto Lilienthal, a German pioneer of aviation. Your leg today ends in the city of Rathenow, known for its pioneer optics since more than 200 years.

Day 7: Rathenow – City of Brandenburg, approx. 65 km

You cycle through the lake area in the North East of the city of Brandenburg. The city itself is divided onto several islands and peninsulas, which you should definitely visit.

Day 8: City of Brandenburg – Potsdam, approx. 60 km

First you cycle on dyke paths through open land where you can relax and enjoy the landscape. You should take some time to visit the island city of Werder as well as the castle Caputh. The idyllic riverside promenade of lake Templin leads you to Potsdam.

Day 9: Potsdam – Berlin city center, approx. 50 km

In the morning you change over the Glienicker bridge from Potsdam to Berlin. You cross the big Wannsee by ferry (not included). In Berlin-Spandau you hit the Spree and follow it until you reach the city center of Berlin. If you like, take a stroll in the evening to explore this exciting city!

Day 10: Berlin

Individual departure, transfer back to Hamburg or extension of your stay.

    Arrival by plane

    Airport: Hamburg (HAM), Berlin Tegel (BER) or Berlin Schönefeld (SXF)
    From the airport Hamburg you can take a taxi to the hotel (about 20- 30 min.); alternatively you can take the suburban line S1 in direction Blankenese: with this line you go to the station "Reeperbahn" or "Altona" depending on the hotel.


    Arrival by car

    Parking: public car park (approx. 11 - 30,- € per day) or on some side roads nearby for free.


    Arrival by train

    Train station: Hamburg, Berlin
