    Bolzano - Venice

    Romeo & Juliet meet Casanova

    • Cycling in the Valley PusteriaFew landscapes in Europe match the unique beauty of the Dolomites, part of the UNESCO world heritage list since 2009. The cycling route starts in the heart of these superb mountains and following the course of the river Adige, which takes you to the palm-lined shores of Lake Garda. Further on, you’ll explore some remarkable Italian cities such as Verona, the town of Romeo & Juliet, Vicenza, renowned for the classical Palladio architecture, and Padua, home to one of the oldest Italian (and European) universities. At the end of the trip the timeless fascination of Venice will invite you to an exploration by foot and by water along its canals and small "calli".

      Tourprofile / level 1-2

As a whole it is an easy to manage itinerary, riding on secondary streets (approx. 95 paved) with low traffic or paved bike paths. There are light hilly bits with short uphill sections. There is the possibility to shorten some stags by train. (not incl. in the tourprice)

      Day 1: Bolzano

Individual arrival. Bolzano is a famous commercial and tourist centre and also a historical and cultural connection between the Italian and the German world.

Day 2: Bolzano - Trento, approx. 65/70 km

Today you will ride mostly along the Adige River, through orchards and vineyards passing the villages of Ora, Egna and Salorno. The dam pathways lead then to Trento. Possibility to shorten the stage by taking the train in several train stations along the way. (not incl. in the tourprice)

Day 3: Trento - Desenanzo - Peschiera, approx. 50 km + ferry ride

Always pedaling along the Adige you reach Rovereto and Mori and further to Lake Garda. After a short ascent, a refreshing descent will follow and lead you to Torbole and to Riva del Garda. The ferry cruise takes you to the southern part of the lake.

Day 4: Desenzano - Peschiera del Garda - Verona, approx. 60/35 km

Today you head to Verona. With the Adige crossing it, this is one of the most important and beautiful cities in the Veneto region. Worth a visit: the Roman Arena, the Church of San Zeno and Juliet’s House.

Day 5: Verona - Vicenza, approx. 75/40 km

At first, the route starts flat and heads through the Monti Berici, a hilly region in the south of Vicenza, with a wonderful view of the city. The old city centre is characterized by the beautiful private palaces and public buildings by Andrea Palladio, the famous 16th century architect is known all over the world. Possibility to shorten the stage by taking the train in several train stations along the way. (not incl.)

Day 6: Vicenza - Padova, approx. 45-50 km

      Individual tour:
Cycling out of Vicenza, along the cycle path of the river Bacchiglione, you can admire the Palladian masterpiece Villa La Rotonda and the frescoes of Tiepolo at Villa Valmarana (entrance included). Then, past the hamlet of Montegalda, you will head towards the Euganean Hills, where you will have the chance to relax in a 4* spa resort in the largest European thermal district.

      Guided tour:
Cycling out of Vicenza you will come across the beautiful Palladian Villa Rotonda. Along the Bacchiglione river, the route will continue to the fascinating city of Padua with its famous Giotto’s Chapel and one of the biggest squares of Europe, "Prato della Valle".

      Day 7: Padova - Mestre/Venice, approx. 40-55 km

      Individual tour:
Along the cycle path of the Battaglia Canal you will pass through Padua, home to one of the oldest Italian (and European) universities and rich in art and history. You can choose to overnight in Venice with a supplement. Please note that in Venice (apart from Piazzale Roma and train station Santa Lucia) it is forbidden to cycle, and also to push your bike by hand.

      E-bikes

By popular demand, we have now invested in a considerable number of e-bikes, much favoured by cyclists who love the Great Outdoors, but prefer to let the bike take the strain. Our research has led us to:

      Kalkhoff, Agattu model
Motor: 36 volts, 540W/H Impulse, located centrally.
The high-capacity battery is secured to the seat tube.
      Gears: Nexus 8-speed.
Range: approx. 90 km (flat terrain, average speed).

With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! If you had few opportunities to cycle over the last weeks or if you are not sure concerning your fitness, but also with physical disabilities, every bike ride is a treat! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.

      Private bicycles

You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. This is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.
