Burgundy Bike Tour
There were three of us on this tour. Two 60+ years old, one 30 year old.
Our thoughts:
*Accomodations- unique with nice breakfasts
*Route- beautiful, but be aware many towns were too small to even have a cafe, and the ones that did closed for lunch at 2:00. Also, no public bathrooms to be found.
*Directions- we tried to use the paper directions and got lost many times. Did not know there were GPS tracks until fourth day. This was still problematic as GPS did not match paper route. We had to resort to Google Maps several times. Possibly include in routes places to stop for water, restrooms, lunch, etc...
*Onboarding for ride was poor- representative was late and did not go over routes. As we had "regular" bikes, more time should've been spent on the routes and possible challenges. *Tour Difficulty- this is stated as a 1-2. There were many hills and one of the days was definitely a "3".
*Support on route- we got lost in a rainstorm on the second day. Thank goodness for Angelique- she was the best part of the whole experience. She got us a ride to our next hotel as we were soaking wet! She also brought us e-bikes on the fourth day.
Overall a challenging week with a few nice memories.
