    Alsace/Colmar home-based tour

    Cities of Strasbourg and Colmar

    • On this home-based tour you ride right into the heart of Alsatian wine country and to one of the most beautiful towns of the wine route, picturesque Colmar.

      On the daily tours, you will experience the full diversity of this beautiful region, visiting the pearls of the Alsatian wine route – Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg and the ancient German and French fortresses in Breisach and Neuf-Brisach.

      Tour profile / level 2

      You will ride mainly on cycle paths, on minor agricultural tarred roads or on little secondary roads without much traffic. Stage 2 is a little bit hilly.

      Day 1: Colmar

      Arrival in Colmar, check-in at the hotel and free tour of the town.

      Day 2 - 4: Routings/program suggestions

      You can find our suggestions for the nicest bike tours in the surroundings below. It is up to you, which ones you choose and combine...or if you do something completely different.

      Tour 1: Round-trip to the famous wine villages, approx. 45 - 61 km

      You leave Colmar heading north through Houssen and ride to Ribeauville, before returning to Colmar through the beautiful wine villages of Riquewihr, Turckheim and Eguisheim.

      Tour 2: Colmar – Sélestat and wine villages – Colmar, approx. 71 km

      You ride along the cycle path of the canals to Marckolsheim on the Rhine. From here you carry on to Sélestat via the villages of the Ried. The ride back to Colmar takes you through the beautiful vine covered countryside to the foot of the Haut-Kœnigsbourg. You can also travel directly from Colmar to Sélestat on the train, taking the simple direct connection (-37 km).

      Tour 3: Strasbourg, approx. 25 km

      From the Hotel you ride to Colmar Station; the train to Strasbourg runs every half hour. You leave the train in Erstein, around 25 km before Strasbourg, and ride along the Rhone-Rhine Canal into the heart of the European capital. Tour of the city. Return on the train from Strasbourg to Colmar.

      Tour 4: Colmar - Munster, approx. 40 km

      From Colmar, take the direction of the Munster Valley by Turckheim and Zimmerbach. The varied landscape of the Munster Valley is one of the most beautiful in Massif des Vosges boasting rounded peaks, high-growing stubble, steep mountainsides and lakes originating from glaciers. Discover a region and its emblematic cheese: the Munster! Discover all the stages in the production of this famous cheese thanks to almost 2,000 m² of exhibits in the Maison du Fromage. You will come back to Colmar on a cycle path through nature and little villages.

      Day 5: Colmar

      Airport: Strasbourg (SXB), approx. 20 km, Basel/Mulhouse (MLH), approx. 120 km

      Arrival at Strasbourg airport, shuttle to the station of Strasbourg, train between Strasbourg and Colmar, taxi to the hotel (train station – hotel Beauséjour about 15 min by foot)
