from/to Amsterdam

Map

Route

Tour profile / Level 1

Holland is the land of cyclists and is criss-crossed by a large network of well-developed cycle paths. The routes are generally flat and can be classified as easy - no difficult climbs and good cycle paths/side roads.

Day 1: Amsterdam – Wijk bij Duurstede

Individual arrival and embarkation from 12:30 pm in Amsterdam Oosterdok. At around 2 pm the ship sails to Wijk bij Buurstede, a charming town on the Lower Rhine. Stroll through the medieval alleyways and the market square on your own!

Day 2: Wijk bij Duurstede – Wageningen – Arnheim, approx. 40 km

During breakfast, the ship sails to Wageningen. Your first cycle tour starts there through the charming river valley of the Lower Rhine. Continue through the forests and heathlands of the Veluwe National Park. The 5400-hectare park is home to many plants and animals (if you would like to visit the park, admission day ticket approx. € 13). In the afternoon you cycle through the outskirts of Arnhem with its beautiful parks Sonsbeek and Zijpendaal.

Day 3: Arnheim – Doesburg – Zutphen – Deventer, approx. 45 km

Boat trip to Doesburg (pronounced "Duusbürch"). From here you follow the Hanseatic route along the IJssel to Bronkhorst, which prides itself on being the smallest town in the Netherlands. The destination of your tour is Zutphen, the city of towers. You can see the large and small church towers that adorn the city’s panorama from afar. During dinner, a boat trip to Deventer. The historic Stadsplein de Brink was already the central meeting place in Deventer in Hanseatic times and today offers many cozy café terraces

Day 4: Deventer – Wijhe – Hattem/Zwolle – Kampen, approx. 50 km

During breakfast, the boat sails to Wijhe. You first take the ferry (approx. € 1.50 per person) across the IJssel and then cycle through wooded areas and the beautiful natural landscape of the eastern Veluwe. In the afternoon you will reach Hattem and Zwolle. Both cities are lively Hanseatic towns and have a charming, medieval old town. During dinner, the ship will take you to Kampen. The town is also the home port of the Kamper Kogge, a replica of a medieval Hanseatic cog.

Day 5: Kampen – Reevensluis – Harderwijk, approx. 45 km

Today’s cycle tour starts after a morning boat trip to Reevesluis. Along the Veluwemeer - where you can swim, boat, surf and much more - you cycle through typical Dutch landscapes to Elburg, a charming fortified and fishing town. Don’t miss a visit to the historic town center, which measures just 250 by 350 metres. You will reach Harderwijk through large wooded areas of the Veluwe. A walk through the town will inevitably lead you to the Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk, a basilica from the 14th/15th century.

Day 6: Harderwijk – Spakenburg, approx. 45 km

Today your cycle tour takes you through flat coastal landscapes, forests and moors. If the weather is fine, you should take a break for a swim in the Strand Nulde recreation area. Cycle along the Eem to Spakenburg, which has always been a fishing port and whose museum harbor is now the heart of the small town.

Day 7: Spakenburg – Huizen – Amsterdam, approx. 35 km

During breakfast, a boat trip to Huizen. You then cycle to the beautiful fortified town of Naarden and Muiderslot Castle in Muiden. You finally reach Amsterdam on quiet paths. Use the afternoon to explore the many sights and special features of the city!

Day 8: Amsterdam

Disembarkation after the breakfast and individual departure or extension.

    Touring bikes

Our bikes are state-of-the-art quality bikes based on proven brand quality of the bicycle manufactory Velo de Ville. All Velo de Ville bikes use only braking systems from renowned manufacturers such as Magura or Shimano. Minimum body height for our rental bikes: 1.50 m

The following rental bikes (including pannier) are available for you:

    • 7-speed UNISEX touring bikes
    • 8-speed E-bikes

    E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedeclecs

We provide you with modern quality e-bikes (pedelecs) with Nexus 8-speed hub gears, gradually selectable aid of pedaling power, puncture-proof tires and deep UNISEX comfort entry. The electric bikes from Velo de Ville are equipped exclusively with Bosch mid-mounted motors and fully integrated 500 Wh Bosch batteries. The design of the batteries allows them to almost disappear into the frame. This gives you better weight distribution and a low center of gravity without missing the convenience of easy entry. You save your battery by starting with as low a support as possible and increasing as needed. Please note that with the newer models of our e-bikes it is not possible to attach handlebar bags due to the additional fixed speedometers and wider handlebars.

IMPORTANT: Please reserve ebikes early, as they are only available in very limited numbers.

    Breakdowns

Bicycle breakdowns can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained, flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair, you may call the local representative. Please don´t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the touroperator/local representative and their approval.

    Own Bikes

If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew. Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes. Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike.
