Route

Tour profile / Level 1

Flat, asphalted bike paths and side roads. Also ideal for children.

Day 1: Enkhuizen

Individual arrival to Enkhuizen. Embarkation in the afternoon up from 4 pm. Perhaps you take a first short walk through the pretty harbor town with its charming old town.

Day 2: Enkhuizen – Hoorn, approx. 20-26 km

In the morning, you should definitely take time to stroll through the old town of Enkhuizen with its numerous villas, canals, churches and city walls. Tip: A visit to the Zuiderzee Museum is highly recommended. You then set off on your first cycle tour to Hoorn. Look forward to the historic old town with its many buildings from the 17th century.

Day 3: Hoorn – Lemmer | Round tour Lemmer, approx. 33-44 km

In the morning, sail across the IJsselmeer to Lemmer in the province of Friesland. There you start the round trip via Oosterzee Buren to the Tjeukemeer and via Munnekeburen, Scherpenzeel and Schoterzijl back to Lemmer. The longer tour also takes you around the Rottige Meenthe and Brandemeer nature reserve. Tip: Visit the world’s largest steam pumping station "Woudagemaal", which is still in operation.

Day 4: Lemmer – Stavoren – Harlingen, approx. 31-41 km

Cycle to the Sondeler Leien lake, from there through the Rijsterbos forest area, past the Mokkebank (bird reserve) to the Roode Klif in Stavoren. From there the ship sails to Harlingen. The Frisian port city is known for its magnificent warehouses and patrician houses, canals and bridges, for its tidal harbor Noorderhaven and for its many café terraces and stores.

Day 5: Round tour Harlingen | Harlingen – Oudeschild, approx. 40-50 km

Today’s program includes a tour around beautiful Harlingen. Enjoy the sweeping views over the province of Friesland before crossing over to the pretty North Sea island of Texel in the afternoon.

Day 6: Round tour Texel | Oudeschild – Den Helder, approx. 28-48 km

Cycling tour on the largest Dutch North Sea island Texel. There are various routes of approx. 28/35/48 km to choose from. At around 5 pm you cross back over to the mainland to Den Helder.

Day 7: Den Helder – Medemblik – Enkhuizen, approx. 55 km

Cycle south through the dunes to Callantsoog, home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands. Then you cycle eastwards via the picturesque dyke village of Oudesluis, which was once a mooring place for the ships of the Dutch East India Company, and Kolhorn, formerly also a port on the Zuiderzee and now surrounded by meadows. The destination of your cycle tour is Medemblik, the oldest town in West Friesland and on the IJsselmeer, with a beautiful town center and many cosy restaurants and cafés. You then return to Enkhuizen by boat.

Day 8: Enkhuizen

Disembarkation after breakfast until 9 am.

    Touring bikes

Our bikes are state-of-the-art quality bikes based on proven brand quality of the bicycle manufactory Velo de Ville. All Velo de Ville bikes use only braking systems from renowned manufacturers such as Magura or Shimano. Minimum body height for our rental bikes: 1.50 m

The following rental bikes (including pannier) are available for you:

    • 7-speed UNISEX touring bikes
    • 8-speed E-bikes

    E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedeclecs

We provide you with modern quality e-bikes (pedelecs) with Nexus 8-speed hub gears, gradually selectable aid of pedaling power, puncture-proof tires and deep UNISEX comfort entry. The electric bikes from Velo de Ville are equipped exclusively with Bosch mid-mounted motors and fully integrated 500 Wh Bosch batteries. The design of the batteries allows them to almost disappear into the frame. This gives you better weight distribution and a low center of gravity without missing the convenience of easy entry. You save your battery by starting with as low a support as possible and increasing as needed. Please note that with the newer models of our e-bikes it is not possible to attach handlebar bags due to the additional fixed speedometers and wider handlebars.

IMPORTANT: Please reserve ebikes early, as they are only available in very limited numbers.

    Breakdowns

Bicycle breakdowns can happen, also when bikes are well serviced and maintained, flats can be fixed by yourself. If there’s a difficult repair, you may call the local representative. Please don´t get any repairs done on the bike without informing the touroperator/local representative and their approval.

    Own Bikes

If you bring your own bicycle, please pay attention to the following aspects: You are personally responsible for your own bike on board and ashore. Protect your bike against theft on board, as well as on land with a lock. The bikes will be brought on board and from board by the crew. Due to the local conditions we cannot prevent scratches and damages on the bikes. Please understand that we cannot accept any liability. The bikes on board are exposed to weather conditions because the parking is not covered. Please bring along your own spare material and repair kit for your bike.
