Map Siena to Rome

Route

Tour profile/Level 2:

The route runs between valleys and hills with easy climbs, some with a medium difference in altitude, but easy to overcome on an e-bike, as well as flat sections. There are no technical difficulties to speak of. The majority of the route is on asphalt roads with little traffic.

Day 1: Siena – San Quirico d’Orcia, approx. 50 km

Once you arrive in Siena, your journey starts from the famous Piazza del Campo. From the streets of Siena, you head straight into the idyllic Crete Senesi before approaching the hilly landscapes typical of Tuscany. The route finally takes you through the picturesque Val d’Arbia into the Val d’Orcia to your destination for today.

Day 2: San Quirico d’Orcia – Radicofani, approx. 45 km

Today you cycle through the idyllic landscapes of Tuscany. Famous directors have used this dreamlike backdrop for their filming, creating a world-famous image of this Italian region. The Val d’Orcia and its boundless expanses accompany you throughout the day before you reach your destination Radicofani.

Day 3: Radicofani – Bolsena, approx. 55 km

Today you cycle through hilly dream landscapes until you reach the gateway to the Via Francigena in the beautiful village of Proceno. Picturesquely situated on Lago di Bolsena, today’s stage destination offers a unique panorama.

Day 4: Bolsena – Viterbo, approx. 35 km

The day starts with beautiful views of the lake as you leave Bolsena and tackle the ascent to Montefiascone. You then return to the plain along part of the old Via Cassia, where you can relax in the thermal pools of Bagnaccio. Your destination for today is Viterbo, also known as the City of the Popes, whose historic center is well worth a visit!

Day 5: Viterbo – Sutri, approx. 35 km

Between fields and forests, the route today takes you up and down through the Lazio region and along the Via Francigena. You will pass through the enchanting villages of Vetralla, Pietrara and Vico Martino. Todays stage goal is the semi-unknown pearl of Sutri, with its impressive amphitheatre and historic town center.

Day 6: Sutri – Formello, approx. 35 km

After leaving Sutri, the route is mainly on country roads. You can relax for a while or even go for a swim in the Monte Gelato waterfall park. The route then continues along a panoramic road to Campagnano and through the beautiful Valle de Sorbo to Formello.
