      A cycling tour in the Salzkammergut leads to the most enchanting places in the region. You will discover the lake landscape framed by the surrounding mountains: Hallstätter See, Traunsee, Grundlsee, Wolfgangsee. The goal of the cycle tour to Lake Gosausee is probably the impressive view of the Dachstein glacier.

      Country roads, cycling paths, field paths, terrain is hilly with some larger uphill stretches.

      Day 1: Bad Goisern

      Individual Journey to Bad Goisern for a cycling holiday in the Salzkammergut. Check into your room and hand over the cycling tour documents at the hotel.

      Day 2: Round trip to the Hallstatt lake, approx. 30 km

      A relaxed cycle tour in Upper Austria leads along the Hallstatt Lake. Enjoy the short crossing by liner during your cycling holiday in Austria. The view of the untouched natural landscape of the Hallstatt-Dachstein region (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is impressive every time.

      Day 3: Cycle tour to Strobl to the Wolfgangsee, approx. 60 km

      On day 3 you start your bike tour to Bad Ischl and continue on the cycle path to Strobl am Wolfgangsee. On the way back, the best time to enjoy the Zauner Jause in Bad Ischl. You can also extend this cycling tour in the Salzkammergut by cycling to Abersee, taking the ferry to St. Wolfgang and then cycling back to Bad Goisern via Strobl.

      Day 4: Tour to Gmunden, approx. 40 km

      Travel by train to Gmunden and discover the town on the Traunsee. You return along the cycle path along the banks of the Traunsee and along the Traun to Bad Goisern. You can also shorten this bike day trip with a boat trip on the Traunsee.

      Day 5: Day of rest

      If the bicycle stops and possibly the walking shoes are laced, then that is not necessarily a rest day. But at least a successful alternation. Tip: Hikes around the Gosausee

      Day 6: Salzburg experience

      Cycling holidays in Austria become a city tour. The proximity to the city of Salzburg is ideal for exploring the city of Mozart. Stroll through Salzburg’s old town (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to the Getreidegasse, climb up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress and capture the famous view of the fortress from the Mirabell Garden. You can travel there and back in comfort by train.

      Day 7: Cycle tour to Grundlsee, approx. 35 km

      By train you travel from Bad Gosiern to Bad Aussee. The beauty of the Ausseerland unfolds on the cycle tour to Grundlsee. Rail journey back to Bad Goisern.

      Day 8: Individual journey home or additional nights

      Individual departure from the cycling holiday or booking of additional nights.

      Airport: Salzburg (SZG)
      Airport Salzburg: You have to take the bus line O-Bus 2 direction Obergnigl until the station HBF Salzburg. Here you have to change to the train Railjet direction Wien HBF until the station Attnang-Puchheim. Another change to the train REX direction Stainbach-Irdning Bahnhof until you reach the station Bad Goisern. (approx. 2h 30min)

      Train station: Salzburg
      Train station: From the HBF Salzburg you take the Railjet direction Wien BHF until you reach the station Attnang-Puchheim. Here you have to change to the train REX direction Strainbach-Irdning Bahnhof until you reach the station Bad Goisern. (approx. 2h)

Located in the middle of the Salzkammergut, the hotel also offers the ideal starting point for your bike tours.         Bicycle breakdowns

        It can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive repair vouchers which you can present in our authorised workshops along the way. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number! In a few hotels/guest houses we have some bikes on stock if you need to change them during the trip.


        Private bicycles

        You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

        For the return journey to Passau we recommend the reservation of the bus transfer or the train ride - some trains offer bicycle-parking possibilities, however those are limited and a reservation is necessary.
