You will mainly be riding on well-developed bike paths. The tour is sometimes also slightly hilly. With a certain level of fitness, it is pleasantly manageable.

Day 1: Linz

ndividual arrival. Discover Linz on a leisurely stroll through the city: the baroque old town, the castle and the Pöstlingberg in Linz, or would you prefer to see the modern side? Then the Ars Electronica Center, the LENTOS Art Museum or the graffiti art in Mural Harbor are a hot tip.

Day 2: Linz – Steyr, approx. 55 km

You cycle along the Danube Cycle Path to Mauthausen, where you cross the Danube bridge to the other side of the river. After only a few kilometers you reach Enns, the oldest city in Austria. From here you follow the Enns Cycle Path to the romantic city of Steyr, another small historic city that enchants visitors with its flair. Be sure to visit: Lamberg Castle and the Gothic Bummerlhaus on the town square.

Day 3: Steyr – Bad Ischl, approx. 70 km

The cycle tour in Upper Austria leads out of Steyr via Bad Hall to the impressive Benedictine monastery in Kremsmünster (tip: plan a visit). The cycle tour then continues to the small historic towns of Gmunden on Lake Traunsee. From here, take the train to Bad Ischl. The evening can be rounded off perfectly with a visit to the Kaiservilla and a final visit to the Zauner pastry shop, the former k.u.k. Hofzuckerbäckerei.

Day 4: Bad Ischl – Salzburg, approx. 70 km

The Ischl River guides you on your bike tour in the Salzkammergut to Lake Wolfgang in the well-known town of St. Wolfgang. Enjoy the breathtaking lake and mountain landscape of the Wolfgangsee and Mondsee stage. In the afternoon, the Mozart city of Salzburg welcomes you. Photo tip: From Mirabell Gardens, you have the best view of Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Day 5: Salzburg – Braunau, approx. 60 km

You start the new day with a train ride to Oberndorf. From here you get on your bike and follow the Salzachradweg to Burghausen with the longest castle in the world. Via the Inn Cycle Path, you will soon reach Braunau, another historic small town.

Day 6: Braunau – Schärding, approx. 50 km

Your cycle tour today takes you along the Inn Cycle Path through the Lower Inn European Nature Reserve. Via Reichersberg you cycle to the baroque town of Schärding.

Day 7: Schärding – Schlögener Schlinge, approx. 55 km

The Inn accompanies you to the 3-river city of Passau in Bavaria. From here, the route follows the Danube Cycle Path to the Schlögener Schlinge. Be sure to plan a short walk to the Schlögener Blick, which offers a breathtaking view of the river meander.

Day 8: Schlögener Schlinge – Linz, approx. 55 km

The last stage of your cycle tour to the small historic towns on the Danube Cycle Path is to Linz. Your luggage will reach the starting point in Linz by 5:30 p.m. at the latest. Take the opportunity to book an extra night in the vibrant city on the Danube.

    Bicycle breakdowns

    It can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive repair vouchers which you can present in our authorised workshops along the way. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number! In a few hotels/guest houses we have some bikes on stock if you need to change them during the trip.


    Private bicycles

    You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

    Valid for danube cycle path: For the return journey to Passau we recommend the reservation of the bus transfer or the train ride - some trains offer bicycle-parking possibilities, however those are limited and a reservation is necessary.


    Rental bike disclaimer

    If a traveller rents a  bike, he is basically liable for damages and theft. When booking our rental bike disclaimer, we assume liability so that in case of loss or damage to the rental bike (when properly used and secured) no financial responsibility must be paid. Excluded from this are only lost keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes, as well as damage due to intent or gross negligence.

    Helmets: In Austria, children up to 12 years of age must wear helmets! Please protect your children and bring the appropriate helmet.
