Cyclists paradise Chiemgau

from/to Salzburg

Itinerary

Route

Tour profile: Level 2

The cycle tour is mostly easy to cycle, but there are also some hilly sections to be expected. You will mostly cycle on biuke paths, agricultural paths and side roads (only a few short sections on busier roads).

Day 1: Salzburg

Individual arrival in Salzburg. Explore the enchanting Mirabell Gardens, stroll along the Salzach through the historic city center or let your gaze wander over the city from the fortress!

Day 2: Salzburg – Waginger See, approx. 45 km

First you cycle a short distance along the Salzach. From Laufen, the journey continues to Lake Waginger, renowned as the warmest lake in Upper Bavaria. With a view of the beautifully greenish-blue shimmering water, you will cycle through the picturesque region until you reach today’s stage destination.

Day 3: Waginger See – Chiemsee, approx. 20-35 km

Today’s short stage takes you to the beautiful Chiemsee, which is also affectionately known as the ’Bavarian Sea’. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the lake, enjoying the view of the Alpine panorama that extends behind the lake.

Day 4: Chiemsee roundtour, approx. 50 km + boat trip

Today you will explore the Chiemsee with all its facets. An included boat trip (without bike) takes you from Prien to the Herreninsel, where you can visit the Herrenchiemsee Castle (castle entry not included). Alternatively, you can take a trip to the famous Seeon.

Day 5: Chiemsee – Inzell, ca. 35-45 km

In the charming Alpine foothills, you will cycle through fragrant forests, past lush meadows and rustic farms via Siegsdorf to the climatic health resort of Inzell. The Inzeller Moor nature reserve can be explored via a well-maintained adventure trail.

Day 6: Inzell – Berchtesgaden, approx. 45 km

Via Schneizlreuth you will reach Bad Reichenhall, which became famous for salt production. Continue to Berchtesgaden, where the imposing panorama of the Watzmann rises high above the city.

Day 7: Berchtesgarden – Salzburg, ca. 30 km

Today you have the opportunity to take a detour to the Königssee (Berchtesgaden – Königssee – Berchtesgaden in total + approx. 12 km). On the way to the Mozart city of Salzburg, you should pay a visit to Hellbrunn Palace with its famous trick fountains (admission included).

    Bicycle

    Bicycles inclusive panniers

    Following bikes are available:

    • Unisex bike with Nuvinci transmission
    • E-Bikes

The NuVinci CVT special gear system (correspond to a 27 speed bike) uses a set of rotating balls and also tilting balls in a transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies the speed ratio. As a result, the NuVinci CVT system offers seamless and continuous transition to any ratio within its range.

The offered bikes are touring bikes with an aluminium frame and kitted with responsive brakes and gears. Plus: comfort gel saddles, flat-palmed grips, Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tyres. All bikes are equipped with a pannier (saddle bag) and a handlebar bag/per room.

    E-bikes | Electrical bikes | Pedelecs

With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! If you had few opportunities to cycle over the last weeks or if you are not sure concerning your fitness, but also with physical disabilities, every bike ride is a treat! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.
