      Tour profile:

The path is completely paved from one end to the other, flat, almost always directly along the riverbank and is also very suitable for beginners and children.

      Day 1: Passau

Individual arrival. Use the remaining time for a city tour or go for a walk through the picturesque old part of the “City of Three Rivers”. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. you take over your bikes – for late arrivals in the next morning.

Day 2: Passau – Eferdinger Becken, approx. 54 km + ship ride Passau - Kasten

Starting in Passau you cycle along the Danube as it flows through the densely forested slopes of the narrow valley in the ‘Bavarian Forest’ until it reaches the gorgeous Danube Loop in Schlögen. Here we recommend a walk up to the famous “Schlögener Blick“ from where you have a fantastic view over this fascinating region. By bike you will continue to Aschach/Feldkirchen.

      Day 3:Eferdinger Becken – Mitterkirchen/surroundings, approx. 53 km + train ride Linz - Enns

Today’s bike-leg guides you to the Upper-Austrian capital city of Linz, featured with its cultural and numerous attractions. After a brief walking tour of the charming old-town square, you will head for the train station. There you will catch a train to the town of Enns (the oldest town in Austria). On the way, many impressive farms and buildings (square-yarded farmhouses which are typical for this region) will be passed on your way.

      Day 4: Mitterkirchen/surroundings – Strudengau, approx. 45 km

Today you will cycle through an extremely fascinating landscape. In this region the narrow passages of the Danube (seen as a vortex or a whirling mass of water) have been frightening captains and sailors since ancient times. Grein, the quaint little romantic town with its castle and the oldest theatre in Austria, is certainly worth a visit.

Day 5: Strudengau – Wachau, approx. 40 km

This day you will reach the Wachau region. A very old winegrowing culture awaits you here. The terraced vineyards grown on the steep southern slopes of “Heaven’s Stairs” along the Danube, make this region unique in its landscape and beauty. Don’t miss a wine tasting at one of the numerous wine-taverns where you can sample the mouth-watering wines of this region. Once at the ruins of Aggstein, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the jewels of the Wachau (Spitz, Weissenkirchen and of course the famous Dürnstein).

      Day 6: Wachau – Krems/surroundings, approx. 49 km

Today you pass through the vineyards of the world famous Dürnstein. A short but steep walk up to the ruins gives you an enchanting view over the Wachau region. From here you only have a short distance to ride until you reach the city of Krems and your accommodation at a typical vineyard in this region.

      Day 7: Krems/surroundings – Vienna, approx. 39 km + train ride Krems - Tulln

By train you will depart from this unique UNESCO World Cultural Heritage region. After arriving in Tulln on the Danube, you will ride your bike for the last time on this tour through the Vienna Woods (Wiener Wald) and pass through ‘The Gates of Vienna’. Along the way you will see the Monastery of Klosterneuburg and then continue on to the city of music: Vienna.

      Day 8: Vienna

Some say that one must personally and even intensively experience this great city. A few of the must-sees include the famous "Naschmarkt", the City Opera, St. Stephan’s Cathedral and of course the gorgeous imperial castle Schönbrunn. • 21-speed-bike with hand brakes
      • E-bikes unisex, also for children (min. 130cm)
      • children seat, children trailer

with 28" tyres in different frame dimensions for ladies and gents.

All bikes are equipped with a one-sided Ortlieb pannier (20 liters) and a handlebar bag/room.

Our modern e-bikes (pedelecs) are quality branded bikes with hub gear, freewheel, powerful electric motor and gradually selectable pedal assistance. The battery range depends on support level, driving style, body weight and terrain. The more hilly the railing, the higher the body weight, the more battery capacity is consumed. You save your battery by starting with as low support as possible and increasing it if necessary.

Tip: E-bikes are a great development, but should be - due to their driving characteristics (high weight + high speed) - booked only by very safe and experienced cyclists with a very good sense of balance. Not suitable are electric bikes for people who rarely ride a bicycle.

Please note that it won’t be possible to fix the handlebar bags on some of our E-Bikes.

      Bicycle breakdowns

can happen even with new wheels and by best servicing. With the rental bikes you will receive repair vouchers which you can present in our authorised workshops along the way. Should a repair not be possible, please contact our service number! In a few hotels/guest houses we have some bikes on stock if you need to change them during the trip.

      Private bicycles

You are welcome to bring your own bicycle. It is adapted especially to your needs. Do not forget to bring a repair kit with all necessary tools such as: keys, reserve tube and lock. Please check your own bicycle for operability upon arrival.

For the return journey to Passau we recommend the reservation of the bus transfer or the train ride - some trains offer bicycle-parking possibilities, however those are limited and a reservation is necessary.
